What Shoes to Pack on a 4-Day Cruise

Packing for any trip can be tricky, especially in the shoe department. Most of us are over packers and know it!  Sometimes, especially for short trips, it’s good to go through a vacation checklist to optimize packing.

If you’re planning a short-lived tropical or warm-weathered vacancy such as a cruise, stick with the basics:

Neutral colored wedges

Neutral colored wedge is the most popular choice for a lot of young women. For a trip like this, you’ll most be liked be wearing flow cotton dresses, silky maxis, and floral rompers which means high heels aren’t really a must. Opt for a good neutral colored wedge to check the “dressy” box. Wedges can be dressed down or up so they’re a perfect shoe to pack!

Many people confuse platforms and wedges. While shoes with wedge heels may have platform soles, the two features do not always appear together. When they do, they’re considered “platform wedges.”

The comfortable pair of sandals

There will definitely be some walking around in the sun, so a comfy pair of sandals is key; ones that compliment every ensemble but that don’t kill your feet. Think neutral colors like brown, nude, or black. We’re big fans of Sam Edelman’s ‘Gigi’ sandal- they’re beyond comfortable and come in a plethora of colors.

Tennis shoes like Chuck Taylors or Vans

Depending on what’s on the itinerary, you may want to pack a pair of sneakers. You don’t need to go to the running shoe route but maybe a pair of Chuck Taylors or a pair of slip-on Vans. Need some motivation for how to style your Chuck Taylors? Here you go.  If you are seriously planning to work out, we say “Yes!” to bring the 5th pair of workout shoes. May we suggest the Nike Frees? They double as fashionable and very functional sneakers.

Flip Flops

When you’re ready to kick off your ‘real’ shoes, and slip into something a little more comfortable (and a whole lot cooler), then you know it’s sandal time. You’ll need flip-flop shoe for wearing all your favorite styles. There will definitely be lots of poolside action and beach stops so a good pair of flip flops is essential. The reef is our favorite, plus they come in a bunch of colors! Reef sandals are incredibly popular, and judging by the reviews, these particular flip-flops are among their best. Averaging 5 of 5 stars for looks and comfort from over 40 reviewers at Zappos.com, these sandals cost less than $40 and come in a wide array of colors. My particular favorite is the brown distressed croc-embossed version because it looks just a bit less casual than some of the other versions — but with such a simple, classic style, you really can’t go wrong, no matter which color you choose.

4 days, 4 shoes. The best part is that you’ll wear one pair on arrival which cuts down how much room you have to dedicate to shoes in your suitcase. Just think about all extra room you’ll have for souvenirs and goodies. Bon, voyage!
